What the record shows
The federal survey describes the site: on E bank of Cross Creek near the Chisana River 30 mi. SE of Nabesna, Wrangell Mts.
Former Indian settlement and mining camp established in 1913 (Swanton, 1952, p. 537). The village population was 148 in 1920; 13 in 1930; and 28 in 1939. The Chisana post office operated from 1913 to 1938.
Chisana appears in the U.S. Geological Survey's place-name archive as a historical populated place — a settlement that once carried a name and no longer does.
